Legal disclaimer

General information,not legal advice.

This website tells you what the firm does and how we think about the law. It is not a substitute for advice on your own situation.

01

Information only

Everything published here — practice pages, insights, alerts and matter summaries — is general information prepared for a wide readership. It does not take account of your facts, your documents or your commercial position.

Please do not act, or decide against acting, on the strength of a page on this site. Speak to a lawyer about your own matter first.

02

No solicitor and client relationship

Reading this site, sending an enquiry or subscribing to our updates does not make you a client of the firm.

We become your lawyers only when we have completed our client checks and confirmed in writing that we accept your instructions, the scope of the work and the basis of our fees.

03

Confidential material

Do not send confidential documents or details of a dispute through the enquiry form before we have confirmed that we can act for you and that no conflict exists.

Until then, what you send may not attract legal professional privilege and we may be unable to treat it as confidential.

04

Jurisdiction of our advice

The firm advises on Nigerian law and practises before Nigerian courts and tribunals. Where a matter touches another jurisdiction we work with local counsel there.

Nothing on this site should be read as advice on the law of any country other than Nigeria.

05

Currency of the content

Each article carries a publication date and reflects the law as it stood then. Statutes are amended, regulations are issued and courts decide new cases; we do not revisit published pages when that happens.

Fees, timelines and registry requirements mentioned in an article may have changed since it was written.

06

Matters of record and results

Our register of matters is published with client consent or in anonymised form, and details are limited to protect confidentiality.

Every matter turns on its own facts. Past results do not predict or guarantee the outcome of another matter.

07

Professional standing

Legal Climate (Barristers & Solicitors) is a firm of barristers and solicitors; our lawyers are called to the Nigerian Bar and are subject to the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners.

Descriptions of experience on this site refer to work done by lawyers of the firm and, where stated, to work done before joining us.
